Leaders in Earth-Centric Heavy Construction Equipment Innovation

In heavy construction equipment, new machinery must perform its intended job with power and consistency while embracing eco-friendly innovations that are better for the environment.

With innovations like electric-powered excavators and machines that don’t require DEF, DPF, or engine after treatment, companies like JCB are leading the way for environmentally sound construction equipment design and operation.

Learn why JCB is the leader in earth-centric heavy construction equipment innovation and how this sets us apart in the industry.

We are still family-owned and take pride in providing exceptional customer service, and remain dedicated to the research and design work that produces earth-centric innovative machines.

Case Study in Innovation: The Electric Excavator
One of JCB’s newest and most innovative pieces of equipment is the 19C-1E. The 19C-1E is JCB’s first completely electric mini-excavator and is part of the company’s E-TECH line of machines that aim for zero exhaust emissions, less noise, and excellent performance.

The 19C-1E is perfect for enclosed job sites and sites that necessitate fewer environmental emissions. It is just as powerful as its diesel-powered counterparts while producing one-fifth of the noise and zero harmful exhaust emissions. Additionally, the cost of charging the 19C-1E is approximately 50% to 70% less than the cost of fuel and maintenance on a comparable diesel-powered model.

The 19C-1E holds the following specifications and benefits:

  • Operating weight of 4,193 pounds
  • Maximum dump height of 9 feet 3 inches
  • Maximum dig depth of 9 feet 3 inches
  • Full day’s work on a single charge
  • 120 hour standby time
  • Three charging options, 12-hour, 3-hour, and 2-hour
  • Isolated controls
  • Low noise emissions, approximately 68 dB at the operator station

What Makes JCB Different?
JCB’s heavy construction equipment is in a class of its own, and when it comes to the elements to consider when choosing construction equipment, several factors give JCB the edge. JCB is the leader in innovative, environmentally conscious equipment production, with equipment that features power, efficiency, productivity, visibility, and extended cab size.

Sheer Power
JCB’s track loaders feature the unique single-arm Powerboom™ design that is unmatched in the industry. This design gives the machines tapered pivot pins and 20% more steel than the twin-arms of conventional loaders, which allow for extreme strength on the job site.

Efficient and Productive

JCB track loaders, backhoes, and telehandlers use efficient engines that are productive and save time on after-treatment of the equipment.

Machines that use 74 horsepower or less don’t require DEF or DPF. Diego Butzke, Backhoe Loader Product Manager for JCB North America, explains that customers “don’t need to worry about refilling a DEF tank. Ultimately this improves machine uptime and reduces maintenance costs.”

Vice President of Direct Sales at JCB North America, Andrea Whelan, acknowledges the superior lift height capacity and hassle-free engine maintenance of the JCB 512-56 telehandler.

All-Around Visibility

Machines equipped with JCB’s Powerboom™ design offer the operator more than 60% all-around visibility, leading to safer operations and more maneuverability.

Larger Cab

With 46% larger cabs than competitors, JCB small-platform machines provide roomier areas that offer operator comfort, leading to higher efficiency and productivity.
